  • Discuss difference between private practice, and what was taught in dental school
  • Communication skills- foundations including making a great first impression and building instant rapport
  • Mindset needed for an associate dentist
  • Discuss structure of course and commitment needed from participants

  • Discuss a challenging clinical case from each participant
  • Discovering a patient’s wants and needs
  • Confidence – how to become a confident clinician and how to display it to patients

Patient Communication

  • Review patient’s wants and need
  • How to communicate so the patient understands
  • How to present your treatment plan
  • How to refer to your team if you are not capable of performing the required treatment
  • Preparing for communicating your treatment plan to your patient- Tools assist you

Week 4:

Treatment Planning and Communication

  • How to work with the dental team to get the best results for your patient
  • Go over treatment plans and communication plan

Treatment Planning Composite Restorations

  • Posterior Restorations Direct Technique (2-hour clinical video review)

Treatment Planning

  • Treatment planning – we will go through a number of cases and discuss options for treatment. Each participant to bring a case to discuss

Case Presentation

  • Case presentation- how to do it with confidence and finesse
  • Discussing different treatment options with your patient without confusing them
  • Finding out what your patient really wants
  • How to listen ‘between the lines’
  • Gaining consent without scaring off your patient

Week 9:

Treatment Planning Extractions

  • Molar extraction techniques and Implant Replacement (2-hour clinical video review)
  • Extraction Site Management for Implant Reconstruction (2-hour clinical video review)

Treatment Planning Implants

  • Implant Supported Dentures (2-hour clinical video review)
  • Concepts for Implants in the Aesthetic Zone (2-hour clinical video review)

Case Presentation

  • Role playing patient communication and case acceptance.

Presenters: Dr Toni Surace and Mr Emanuel Recupero

Dr. Toni Surace graduated from Melbourne University in 1995 as a dentist. She took her practice through the Momentum Management Program in 2008 and loved what it did for her team and her practice growth so much that she bought the company! Toni has owned Momentum since 2012 and has developed and grown the content to work in dental practices today. She has used her further studies in Digital Marketing, Positive Psychology and Emotional Intelligence to expand the curriculum and to give practices the knowledge they need to thrive in the dental profession today.

Emanuel Recupero is a well-known innovator and provider of dental education. He used his extensive marketing experience to create an internationally recognised brand: Dental ED. He has seen many practices and met thousands of dentists from around the world, and he realised that they all share the same concerns with the economic changes and powerful corporate organisations monopolising the dental industry. In response to that, he has developed unique tools to attract more patients, increase productivity, and keep practices competitive and prospering in the new competitive age.
