The Chairside Assistant
Program Overview – Dental Chairside Assistant Short Course
This intensive 3-hour training program is designed to equip Dental Assistants with the skills, structure, and confidence to excel in their chairside role. The course combines practical systems, communication strategies, and self-reflection exercises to strengthen performance and elevate the patient experience.
The program begins with an introduction to the critical role of the Dental Assistant in both patient care and practice efficiency. Participants then move into Exceptional Chairside – Part 1, where they learn to anticipate the dentist’s needs, communicate effectively, and prepare daily workflows using the Day Sheet and Huddle Prep tools. The session continues with objection handling, giving assistants confidence in addressing patient concerns, supported by role-play and the Objection Handling File.
After a short break, Exceptional Chairside – Part 2 provides advanced insights into clinical support, infection control, and patient comfort. This session is supported by the Successful Dental Assisting Tips guide. Participants also complete a structured self-assessment and learn how to apply checklists and huddle agendas to build accountability.
The program closes with a focus on teamwork, culture, and daily systems, encouraging Dental Assistants to reflect on their strengths and commit to ongoing growth.
